How We Met
The two of us first met on a beautiful Sunday morning at the Santa Monica Farmer's Market last summer. We enjoyed being in each other's company, talking, and laughing. After Toni deleted several of Marc's emails – unwittingly, she claims – we finally connected ("MTJ7@aol.com" - does that really look like a spammer??). Neither of us were really looking to become involved in a long distance romance, but we were both open to things evolving naturally. More emails (successful, this time) and phone calls followed, we got a little encouragement from a few of our friends (thanks guys!), and then Toni boldly invited Marc on a 5-day-long second date in Florida and Bimini. She warned him – it will be more like “Meet the Parents” than a romantic fantasy, but nonetheless, from there the romance blossomed!

Our Engagement Story
One advantage to living so far apart is that we get to meet in all sorts of exciting places! Marc had many choices when it came to figuring out where to propose. He decided to pop the question in Nantucket – and the champagne cork was popping soon after (at 8:30 am, no less!!). We've both been celebrating ever since! And we're looking forward very much to continuing our adventure together.

Quote
“What a coincidence - I’m African-American too!”

Where are you guys going to live??
Stop buggin’ us already! We'll figure it out soon enough. We're taking the approach that our home together will emerge from our shared experience, much as the rest of our relationship has grown and evolved. Obviously, NY and LA each offer a wealth of wonderful things, and we're weighing the opportunities and possibilities of each place. To those friends who are worried about losing us to the other coast - don't worry! Everything will work out just great.

Registry
We don't need anything. Seriously. We both have pretty much everything we really need for our homes and ourselves. Plus, we know it's a big deal for everyone to be traveling all the way to the Bahamas for our wedding – your presence is the only present we truly want. (And for those of you who can't make the trip for any reason, we completely understand that, too.)

But we also realize that certain people will still want to “be-gift” us. In that case, our only request is a contribution to our honeymoon fund. We'll be taking a “mini-moon” for a couple of days after the wedding, but we're planning a more extensive trip for early next year. If you'd like to help make it the best honeymoon ever, click here.
